Police procedurals and sitcoms may seem like polar opposites, but when combined, they create an entertaining hybrid. The mashup dates back further than most people realize, and over the years, it has produced several memorable successes. The modern gold standard remains Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which ran on Fox and later NBC from 2013 to 2021. Since then, creators have continued experimenting with the formula to varying degrees of success, but the subgenre still holds plenty of appeal. One of the latest entries is Good Cop/Bad Cop, created by John Quaintance. Premiering on The CW in February 2025, the series earned strong reviews but has yet to get the wider visibility it deserves. However, that is soon about to change as Good Cop/Bad Copis coming to a new major streaming platform.
