Over the course of nine years, five seasons, and more than one spectacular finale event, Netflix'sStranger Things could have easily used its 1980s setting as a more generic baity nostalgia hook. Instead, it created an engrossing story which, while gradually shifting away from more engaging practical effects, saw its youngest cast grow into young adults, take down Vecna, and manage not to lose their love for Dungeons & Dragons. There are certainly earnest attempts to keep the magic alive with new projects like Tales from '85 and even a Stranger Things anime, but one may reasonably crave a similarly excellent supernatural story with coming-of-age elements.
