Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice have left England’s squad and have returned to Arsenal for ‘medical assessment’.

The Arsenal duo were not in England’s squad for the 1-1 draw with Uruguay at Wembley on Friday night, while Noni Madueke was forced off in the first half of that game with a knee injury.

England have now confirmed that Rice, Saka and Madueke will play no part in England’s next friendly against Japan at Wembley on Tuesday evening.

Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton and Manchester City’s John Stones also picked up injuries in the draw with Uruguay and have left England’s squad.

Aaron Ramsdale, Fikayo Tomori and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have also departed ahead of the game against Japan next week.
