Zubeen Garg, a renowned Assamese singer and cultural icon, died in a tragic scuba diving accident in Singapore. According to reports, Singapore police rescued him from the sea and rushed him to the hospital but he could not be saved. Zubeen Garg had gone there to attend and perform at the Northeast Festival, but the accident occurred just before the event. 52-year-old Zubeen Garg, through his melodious voice and unique compositions, elevated Assam's culture and identity to new heights.. His songs, such as Ya Ali, brought him widespread recognition nationally and internationally.

In his last post on Instagram, Zubeen revealed about the event that was set to be held in Singapore. He asked his fans and followers to come and join him at the event. He wrote, "Friends in Singpore, I will like to invite you to 4th North East India Festival in Sunctec, Singapore during 20th and 21st September. Come and explore the exotic part of India, we are carrying quality agri, craft products, tea experience, dance forms, fashion shows and evening musical show presenting Rock bands, rappers from India's North East. I will be there throughout the Festival as Cultural Brand Ambassador and will perform on 20th evening with my popular Hindi, Bengali and Assamese Songs. I would like to invite you all, it will be Saturday and Sunday and entry is free. All come and support us. Cheers!"
