The Young and the Restless continues its trend of recruiting talent from across the daytime spectrum. The latest actor to make the jump from Port Charles to Genoa City is known for his roles on General Hospital and Supernatural. Who is it, and what will his role be? Here are all the details.

Matt Cohen joins The Young and the Restless cast as Detective Burrow

Matt Cohen will reportedly step into the role of Detective Burrow (via Entertainment Weekly).

Production is already underway, with Cohen filming his first scenes last week. This Young and the Restless casting fills a critical void in Genoa City’s law enforcement.

The department has been without a lead detective since the tragic and shocking death of Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) this past July. Detective Burrow is described as a new character who will immediately be thrust into the center of a major investigation involving some of the soap’s most prominent citizens.

When will Matt Cohen first appear as Detective Burrow on The Young and the Restless?

Matt Cohen’s first Young and the Restless episode airs Thursday, October 16, 2025.

His casting follows a wave of former General Hospital stars joining the soap, including Tamara Braun and Roger Howarth earlier this year.

Cohen is a familiar and celebrated face to television audiences. Daytime fans best know him as Dr. Griffin Munro on General Hospital, a role he played from 2016 to 2019. At the same time, he built a large following in primetime for his appearances on the CW’s Supernatural, where he played a young John Winchester and the archangel Michael.

Cohen’s talents extend beyond acting. He won a Daytime Emmy Award for his work as a correspondent and co-host on Entertainment Tonight. Earlier this year, he directed and starred in the feature film Exes and co-created the adult animated series Public Domain, featuring several Supernatural alums.

Now, The Young and the Restless fans will see him on-screen as Detective Burrow this fall.
