Indiana Jones’ whip and fedora may define the franchise, but fans now have proof that even his motorcycle carries legendary status. A vehicle featured in one of the most thrilling chase sequences from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade has just sold at auction for an eye-popping figure.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade motorcycle fetches over $130k at auction

The motorcycle and sidecar, used on-screen by Harrison Ford and Sean Connery during the Nazi escape scene in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, went up for auction at Propstore’s Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction in Los Angeles. Originally valued between £30,000 ($40,000) and £60,000 ($80,000), the bike shattered expectations by selling for over £102,000 ($138,000), after competitive bidding.

The lot was described as a “photo-matched and instantly recognizable vehicle” that connects fans directly to one of the franchise’s most iconic moments. The scene where Indy and his father speed away from Castle Brunwald, fending off Nazi pursuers with stunts and clever tricks, remains a standout in Steven Spielberg’s 1989 classic.

Though the bike is currently nonfunctional, missing keys, and showing signs of chipped paint and grime, bidders didn’t mind such conditions. A Lucasfilm production document confirmed the rental of the 1940s Neval motorcycle and sidecar during the 1989 shoot, adding to its authenticity.

The motorcycle sequence holds a special place in the Indiana Jones legacy. It was featured when Indy went to rescue his father, played by Connery. One particularly iconic moment shows Indy jamming a flagpole into an enemy’s bike wheel, sending the pursuer flying. So, the auctioned motorcycle represents that hands-on filmmaking style that defined the golden age of adventure movies.

Motorcycles have always been a part of Indiana Jones’ adventures, from his time as a WWI courier to chases with Nazis and even Mutt Williams’ Harley in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The motorcycle wasn’t the only Indiana Jones relic on the block. Sean Connery’s bloodied three-piece suit from the Grail Temple finale sold for £50,000 ($67,000), which was more than double its estimate. (via Daily Record)
