Nicolas Jarry’s grandfather, Jaime Fillol, was the one who introduced a racquet to Jarry when he was young. Fillol, who himself played as a top 20 player, took little Nicolas to various tournaments such as Wimbledon and the US Open and built his interest in tennis. And taking this legacy forward was his great uncle, Álvaro Fillol. Just like Jaime Fillol, Alvaro also played tennis as a professional player. 

And together, they enjoyed running the former ATP event in Vina del Mar. However, their collective love for tennis also extended to Nicolas Jarry’s uncle, Martin Rodriguez, as well. This is because he was also a former top tennis player and was ranked 75 in singles and 15 in doubles tournaments.

Nicolas Jarry, who grew up idolizing Chilean players like Nicolás Massú, Adrian Garcia, and Fernando Gonzalez, also has an aunt named Catalina Fillol who is the tournament director of the Santiago ATP event.
