CMAT made her US TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this week. Watch her performance below.

The Mercury Prize shortlisted artist recently released her acclaimed third album, ‘Euro-Country’, which included the single ‘Take A Sexy Picture Of Me’.

Since its release back in June, the track has inspired a TikTok dance trend dubbed the “woke macarena”. The dance centres around the song’s second verse, where CMAT sings: “I did the butcher, I did the baker / I did the home and the family maker / I did school girl fantasies / Oh, I did leg things and hand stuff / And single woman banter / Now tell me, what was in it for me?”

Amelia Dimoldenberg, Julia Fox, Cher Lloyd and former NME cover star Lola Young are among those who jumped on the trend, and now the song has had its US television debut.

On Tuesday (September 9) CMAT appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where she played the song alongside her band, all dressed in. matching knit vests and brown mini skirts. Check it out below.

CMAT has become known for her captivating live performances. NME gave her Glastonbury 2025 Pyramid Stage performance a glowing five-star review, writing: “CMAT captures the spirit of Glasto and sets the bar for the coming weekend – and her life, it seems.” NME also featured the slot as one of “the most unforgettable moments from Worthy Farm” this year.

Earlier this week, ‘Euro-Country’ was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize 2025, alongside Fontaines D.C.‘s ‘Romance’, Pulp‘s comeback record ‘More’, PinkPantheress‘ ‘Fancy That’, Wolf Alice‘s ‘The Clearing’, Sam Fender‘s ‘People Watching’, FKA Twigs (‘Eusexua’), Pa Salieu (‘Afrikan Alien’) and Emma-Jean Thackray (‘Weirdo’).

NME gave the album a glowing five-star review, which read: “Modernity has failed us, but that won’t stop Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson. That’s the CMAT way in 2025: approach with absolute confidence, total honesty is the only option, and you might as well have a laugh and shake your bits while you’re at it.

“‘Euro-Country’ has the courage and the consistency to land high on the fast-approaching end-of-year lists, and to make CMAT the icon she’s been giving all this time.”

Speaking to NME about her imminent new album in March, CMAT explained: “I spent all of September to December working on it in a hole in New York City. It’s done now. I lost my mind there for a bit, but it sounds great.

“I’m really focusing on songs that transfer well to live music, because my live band is such an important part of what I do. They’re the basis of me becoming a well-known person in the UK who is able to sell tickets to gigs. I wouldn’t be able to do it if it wasn’t for my band, so I wrote an album for both them and me to slay.”

She’ll embark on a UK and Ireland headline tour later this year, including a show at London’s O2 Academy Brixton, and a night at Dublin’s 3Arena. Find any remaining tickets here.
