Watch: Child attacked by rabid beaver while fishing at New Jersey lake

Dig deeper: In the video, an 8-year-old boy who was out fishing with his family is seen being attacked by the beaver. When the child tried to run back up the bank and out of the water, the beaver pursued the boy and ended up biting the child on his thigh. When the boy finally managed to get up, he threw the beaver back into the lake. Local perspective: Several people had been bitten by the beaver and ended up testing positive for rabies, according to the Mahwah Township Health Department.
