Daredevil’s Vincent D’Onofrio wants to play DC’s Swamp Thing
Recently, the Daredevil: Born Again actor, who plays the role of Kingpin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, shared that he would love to portray the Swamp Thing in DC.
In a latest post on X (formerly Twitter), user DCComicsFanBoy shared an image of Vincent D’Onofrio along with the Swamp Thing and asked, “Should Vincent D’Onofrio Play Swamp Thing In James Gunn’s #DCU?” To this, D’Onofrio replied, “Yes, he should.”
Another fan asked the 66-year-old actor whether he would be able to do the voice of the Swamp Thing. He further stated, “It would be fun figuring it all out. Deeper then that the psychological brokenness inside him. It would be an intense role. The kind I like.”
However, Vincent D’Onofrio further wished the process were easier as he is currently working with Marvel.
Although there is not much information available regarding the Swamp Thing movie, in July 2025, James Gunn spoke about it with Josh Horowitz in an interview. He said, “We talked to James (Mangold) the other day. No, he hasn’t delivered a script. He’s been distracted by his billions of movies [Laughs]. But I think… We’re talking about it again, so…”
Previously, Mangold also addressed the Swamp Thing project in January while talking to MovieWeb. He said, “With other kinds of IP, it gets to a religious level. While I’m sure DC views Swamp Thing as a franchise, I would be viewing it as a very simple, clean, Gothic horror movie about this man/monster.”
