esterday was the eighty-sixth anniversary of the Vichy Statute, in which French authorities sealed the fate of the Jews in their jurisdiction. The Statut des Juifs was adopted by Marshal Pétain’s cabinet in the unoccupied zone in Vichy. This half of France still had a French government, and they published it in the Journal Officiel like any other statute.
