Australian artist Toneshifterz drew on his hardstyle roots for inspiration when crafting the tracks on his latest album, Ravers Revolution.
The past decade and a half has seen Toneshifterz embark on a wild ride in the dance music scene. The Australian DJ and producer made a name for himself during that time as one of the leaders within the hardstyle realm, becoming a frequent face at major festivals around the globe to further bring the sound to the masses. Today, like many artists in the scene, Toneshifterz is facing a creative transition in this new era, a theme central to his latest album, Ravers Revolution.
Toneshifterz said that he had been asking himself if he was evolving his sound or repeating what had previously worked for him when making this album. “When I listened back to some of my early productions, I realised the DNA of what I’m doing now was already there years ago,” he shared. “The difference is that now, after so many years, I see it clearly, and I have the experience to execute it properly.”
The Australian artist explained that hardstyle has become “very extreme and explosive,” yet he missed the sense of flow in the genre. So he set off to capture that essence and lean into the euphoria that melodic music makes as well when creating Ravers Revolution. “This album isn’t about chasing trends, it’s about the genesis of this ‘new’ sound, which was something I already started long ago,” he continued. “It’s about trusting instinct, reconnecting with who I was when I started, and pushing it forward. That’s the real revolution.”
Diving into the soundscapes on Ravers Revolution will reveal a flurry of collaborations and some familiar tracks. Singles like “Body Move” with TwinTigerz, “Clarity” with Darren Styles, “Let’s Go Party (OMG)” with S-Dee, “Scapenite” with ELI YAZ, and “Harder Styles United,” which was the official anthem for Knockout 2025, have found a home on this album. These all helped set the tone for this past-meets-present style that Toneshifterz embraced.
More recent singles, ranging from “I Get Down,” “R.A.V.E. (WHERE I WANT TO BE)” with MC Stretch, and “POP IT” with Project Zeitgeist, continued that trend. There are flourishes of the emotion and explosiveness that make hardstyle so great, with the movement of hard techno, all of which blend together for an impactful listen. “Give It All,” a newly released collaboration with Brennan Heart and Project Zeitgeist, might be the best example of them all. Its bouncy energy contrasts with uplifting spoken-word vocals and harder elements, making it a perfect fit for a warehouse or festival stage.
