ComingSoon can exclusively reveal a new clip from Tommy Lee Jones & Zachary Levi’s new western, Angel and the Badman. The upcoming film is a remake of the 1947 film by James Edward Grant, retelling the story of outlaw Quirt Evans and his adventures.

Angel and the Badman sees an outlaw, Quirt Evans, being tended to by a rancher’s family after surviving a tense shootout. In the following days, Evans’ past catches up to him as Marshall McClintock closes in, along with another outlaw gang planning to finish him off.

What do we see in the new Angel and the Badman clip?

The exclusive clip shows Quirt Evans (Zachary Levi) meeting Marshall McClintock (Tommy Lee Jones) and Deputy Eli (Sean Bridgers) sometime after resting at the ranch. The trio is greeted by Penny (Meg Fraser), the rancher’s daughter. The McClintock asks Penny’s family whether Evans was out of sight the previous day, leading to a tense altercation between the parties. McClintock asks Evans to stop “playing house” with the family and to leave them, but Evans disregards him.

Angel and the Badman has been remade once before. In 2009, Terry Ingram retold the film’s story on the Hallmark Channel, with Lou Diamond Phillips playing Quirt Evans. The film entered the public domain in 1975.

Besides Levy and Jones, the film stars Neal McDonough, Meg Fraser, Jean Louisa Kelly, and Barrett Ellis Luca. It is directed by Julio Quintana from a screenplay by Jaime Hernandez, Kevin M. Townsend, and Christopher Tuffin. It is produced by Jaime Hernandez and Christopher Tuffin, with executive producers Amanda Delaplaine, David E. Fischer, David Henrie, Lorenzo James Henrie, Frank Kostenko Jr., Ruvé McDonough, Chris Ochs, and Tyler Zacharia.
