Whatever you hear about the penultimate season of Riverdale doesn’t scratch the surface of how unhinged it actually is. The long-running CW series went full science fiction/fantasy in Season 6 with superpowers, ritual sacrifices, time travel, portals, alternate universes, witchcraft, guardian angels, the longed-for Chilling Adventures of Sabrinacrossover, and American Psycho: The Musical. While it led to some of the best episodes of the series and set up a delightfully bonkers final season, the original premise of the Archie comics adaptation went completely out the window.
