Disney's live-action remakes have been struck by a bout of declining returns, and the pressure is on for the studio's upcoming movie to perform. If there were a safer bet, this would be it. However, there's no telling how audiences will react to what they're presented with next month. In the last few years, Disney has seen its pipeline of live-action remakes be infected by poisonous rhetoric, usually surrounding themes and casting choices. While the Alice in Wonderland and Beauty and the Beast remakes were able to gross more than $1 billion each at the global box office, the more recent The Little Mermaid and Snow White remakes weren't as successful. The latter movie grossed just over $200 million worldwide against a reported budget of $336 million.
