The eyes of every Super Mario fan turned to Nintendo Direct this morning. The event happens regularly to announce important updates in the Nintendo world, and it's mostly focused on new titles of the Nintendo Switch video game. Today, however, the presentation took place just before the Super Mario 40th anniversary, which means it is the perfect timing for a Mario sequel title announcement — the new movie of the animated franchise is called The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and the previously announced date is confirmed: it hits theaters in April 2026.
