Roger Ebertwas among the most respected critics of all time because he was willing to engage with any type of film and would not dismiss them based on their genre alone. Ebert notoriously skewered many comedies, including Zoolander, Wedding Crashers, Step Brothers, and nearly the entire filmography of Adam Sandler; however, that doesn’t mean he didn’t know how to laugh. Ebert gave a near-perfect grade to the dark comedy Horrible Bosses, which he said was “funny and dirty in about that order.” Although it's a film centered on ridiculous gags, Ebert appreciated that it was a reflection of "this moment in American history when employees are in a weak position and their bosses know it.”
