Just like any other creative industry, cinema goes through phases where trends come and go. At the moment, video game adaptations seem to be overtaking the superhero movies that have dominated since the MCU kicked off in 2008, but back at the dawn of the new millennium, it was zombies that ruled the roost. Punctuated by hits like Zack Snyder’s remake of Dawn of the Dead and the frenetic comedy Zombieland, the era was inundated with tales of the undead and infected, with Danny Boyle kicking off the trend with his low-fi 2002 masterwork, 28 Days Later.
