With the release date for The Boys Season 5 fast approaching, franchise mainstay Jack Quaid has put viewers’ minds at ease by confirming a major aspect regarding the show’s ending. In a recent discussion, Quaid, who portrays Hughie Campbell, revealed the final installment of the high-octane superhero series will stay true to its violent theme and won’t feature a positive conclusion to the story.

During his recent conversation with Jimmy Fallon, the Novocaine star made it clear that The Boys Season 5 will not end on a good note.
“No, in no way,” Jack Quaid exclaimed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, when the host asked if his series would also have a “happily ever after” like normal superhero shows. “No, it’s The Boys. It’s not going to be a fairytale ending in any regard. This is the final season, and we really do mean that. There are characters, I won’t say who, who meet their end, and it’s crazy, it’s really, really nuts.”
The 33-year-old added, “It was emotional. I’m covered in blood a lot on the show, and it was so weird to be covered in blood and various goos, and then to just like also be emotional about that, where I’m like, ‘I’m really gonna miss this,’ and I’m just drenched head to toe. But it’s just been the honor of my life, I truly love the show and everyone involved.”
Jack Quaid’s assessment of The Boys Season 5 finale seems to align with the descriptions his co-stars have shared of the show’s ending. Erin Moriarty, who plays Starlight in the series, noted in a recent interview that “there’s going to be a lot of shock” in the last season and that it surprisingly holds immense emotional gravitas.
Additionally, series creator Eric Kripke has urged fans not to bond with any character, as anyone can die in The Boys’ final outing.
The Boys Season 5 is currently on track to premiere on Prime Video on April 8, 2026.
