When it comes to cult films, the science fiction genre has a galaxy's worth of movies. The genre attracts a certain amount of creative ambition that often results in films that don't necessarily appeal to mainstream audiences or critics. They may not have found success at the box office, but they all found rabid fanbases, some of which have grown so large that the films themselves have become canonized, andeven launched whole franchises. Even with that kind of success, these films all still proudly wear their cult classic status as a badge of honor.
