The hosts of The View have slammed JD Vance for misinterpreting a Donald Trump quote. The United States Vice President appeared on the program earlier today to promote his new book, titled Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith.

Last week, United States President Donald Trump was quoted as saying, “I love that inflation.” This comes after, according to BBC News, “US prices rose last month at their fastest rate for three years.”

The full quote from Trump reads, “I love it. The numbers were great. You know what I really love? I love the inflation.”

He also told The Post, “I love the inflation numbers because of what I’m talking about. The numbers are going to be phenomenal because what’s showing is that despite the fact that we’re in a war, the numbers are much lower than anticipated, and when we’re out of that war, the numbers will be at lower numbers than they were even before it started.”

What did The View say about JD Vance and Donald Trump?

When appearing on The View, per Deadline, Vance addressed Trump’s quote. Vance said, “What he said is that he loves the fact that the inflation is going to come down when the war is over. That’s what he said.”

The View, however, was quick to call him out on this. Co-host Whoopi Goldberg responded, “That’s not what he said.”

Co-host Joy Behar added, “Are you his interpreter, or are you his vice president?”

Deadline’s article states that Vance did acknowledge “that inflation was too high,” though he compared “it to the levels of the Biden administration.” Vance said that “the economy is being boosted by new investment, the impacts of which have not been fully realized.” The article further notes, “Vance also disputed that Trump had called affordability a ‘hoax,’ saying that the president was referring to the idea that the Republicans caused the affordability problem.”
