Neighbours icon turned Strictly Come Dancing star Stefan Dennis has had to tell his wife of 25 years that the curse won’t tear them apart.

The Strictly curse has haunted the show for over two decades due to the chatter of romantic relationships blossoming between celebrities and their pro-partners (both real and rumoured), even if one of them was already in a relationship.

Plenty of speculation has been debunked, but there definitely have been dancing pairs who have taken their relationship off the dance floor after the show has come to an end.

In 2018 alone, comedian Seann Walsh was photographed kissing Katya Jones while both were in relationships, and Dianne Buswell split with her long-term boyfriend and soon after started dating her partner Joe Sugg (whom she is with to this day).

Oh, and Stacey Dooley ended her relationship with trainer Sam Tucknott during the show to later start dating her pro partner Kevin Clifton, with whom she now shares a child.

And that’s just scraping the iceberg.

As such, it seems Stefan has decided to cut any worry off at the pass with his dancer wife, Gail Easdale, whom he married in 2000.

‘It has been brought up,’ the 66-year-old Australian actor said.

He added to The Mirror: ‘I keep having to remind her and say, “Stop worrying, stop worrying darling, you are fine.”

Contrary to his soap character Paul Robinson, who has married multiple women, cheated, lied and schemed his way through relationships, Stefan is happily married to Gail and the pair have three children together –  sons Cameron, 23, Declan, 20, and daughter Darci, 16.

Revealing the key to his happy relationship, he shared: ‘Acceptance and understanding. And waking up every day and looking at a woman who I just think is stunning and gorgeous in every way.’

His addition as the 12th celebrity on the BBC reality competition series marks his next career move after it was confirmed Neighbours would finish by the end of the year.

He has appeared on the popular series since the very beginning in 1985 and has become synonymous with the show for many people.

Reflecting on the cancellation earlier this year, he shared with his followers: ‘I was absorbing, digesting and reflecting on what has happened, not because I was losing something I love dearly but because it’s the sad ending to an iconic piece of Australian television history.

‘This is a crushing blow to both the industry and a show which has employed, helped and nurtured so many.

‘I feel for all of you who are losing a faithful vault of daily entertainment and my heart goes out to all the cast, crew and production staff.’

Discussing his decision to join Strictly, he said he was looking forward to stepping out of his comfort zone and that he’s ‘looking forward to the sparkle and reaching for the sky.’

The upcoming season, which starts on Saturday, September 20, has already faced some trouble after one of the contestants, former Apprentice star Thomas Skinner, stormed out of a press event where he reportedly took a journalist’s phone.

He later took to Instagram to explain the situation and apologise for his behaviour.

‘What I do want to say is how excited I am to be part of Strictly this year. I’m so grateful for all the love, kindness and support I’ve been shown so far,’ he shared.
