Elton John has sparked concern from fans after posting a photo of himself lying in a hospital bed with a neck brace.
The music icon, 78, left some worried this week when sharing a snap that initially appeared to show him in ill health.
However, it quickly became clear he was actually fine – despite many people initially suspecting the worst.
The photo showed Sir Elton looking at the camera while in the bed, with both of his legs in silver glitter casts.
In front of him was also a table full of flowers and cards – while his husband David Furnish could be seen speaking to a woman in the background.
Despite many having to do a double take, the caption reassured fans the legendary performer was just fine.

‘Rocked too hard…ended up in a cast! Backstage with Spinal Tap 🤘’ he explained.
‘The new film, Spinal Tap II, and album are out today, featuring me on Listen To The Flower People and Stonehenge. Thanks for having me be a part of it!’ he added.
The photo was in fact taken during filming for Sir Elton’s appearance in the long-awaited sequel to the mockumentary Spinal Tap, with the follow-up expected in cinemas on September 25.
However, before realising this was the case, many people shared how they’d initially been left on edge.
‘YOU SCARED ME,’ singer Charlie Puth wrote, with his comment receiving nearly 4,000 likes.
‘YOU SCARED ME TOO!’ actor Ryan Phillippe shared.

‘ELTON DONT SCARE US LIKE THAT,’ Maria demanded.
‘I ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK THINKING IT WAS REAL,’ Ryan exclaimed.
‘I’m at the airport and my heart sank so quickly JESUS,’ Sojung added.
A few people still didn’t manage to realise what was going on though – with the post flooded with comments wishing him a ‘speedy recovery’.
Sir Elton’s post also included a photo also included a photo of himself on camera monitors, as well as behind-the-scenes shots of a soundstage and a close-up of the bedazzled casts after they’d been removed.
The Spinal Tap sequel comes 40 years after the original was released. The mockumentary was co-written and directed by Rob Reiner, and starred Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer as members of the fictional heavy metal band.

It followed them on an American tour, with the movie released to critical acclaim but moderate commercial success. However, in the years since it developed a cult following and was credited with launching the mockumentary genre.
The sequel – Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, follows the band as they reunite after a 15-year break to play one final show.
It also features cameos from Sir Elton, as well as Paul McCartney, Garth Brooks, Questlove, Trisha Yearwood, Chad Smith, and Lars Ulrich.
Earlier this year, Sir Elton did speak about an actual health scare he’s face – revealing his sight is deteriorating.
In July 2024, he contracted a severe eye infection that left him blind in his right eye, with ‘limited vision’ in his left.
Then in April this year he gave an update about his ailments when speaking to The Times.

‘I can see you, but I can’t see TV; I can’t read. I can’t see my boys playing rugby and soccer,’ he told the reporter.
‘And it has been a very stressful time because I’m used to soaking it all up.’
‘It’s distressing. You get emotional, but you have to get used to it because I’m lucky to have the life I have.’
However, he added: ‘I still have my wonderful family, and I can still see something out of here [left eye], so you say to yourself, “Just get on with it”.’
