‘She’s Absolutely Brilliant’: Tom Cruise Says He’d Love to Make a Movie With Taylor Swift

Hollywood star Tom Cruise wants to make a movie with global pop icon Taylor Swift. The actor will soon appear in the dark comedy Digger, helmed by Oscar-winning Alejandro González Iñárritu.

In an interview with BuzzFeed UK, Tom Cruise was asked if he would ever appear in a Taylor Swift music video. However, the 64-year-old made it clear that he would rather make a movie with her. “Let’s go make a movie,” he said.

He praised Swift for her writing talent, saying, “She’s absolutely brilliant. She’s a brilliant writer. Brilliant.” Cruise then expressed his desire to work with Swift in a film if she directed it.

“If she ever decided to direct, she could be a director of feature films. I know she does her videos, and she does a beautiful job, so it would be amazing to work with her on anything.”

Has Tom Cruise worked with a female director?

Tom Cruise has never worked with a female director. Since starting his career at 18, the veteran action star has featured in more than 50 movies, all directed by men.

Cruise has worked with some of the most iconic directors, including Tony Scott on 1986’s Top Gun and Stanley Kubrick on the 1999 thriller Eyes Wide Shut. He was also seen in Steven Spielberg’s 2002 sci-fi movie Minority Report and 2005’s War of the Worlds.

His most notable association, however, has been with Christopher McQuarrie. The two initially worked together on 2012’s Jack Reacher, based on Lee Child’s book series.

The duo then reunited for the Mission: Impossible franchise, beginning with 2015’s Rogue Nation. The film was a box-office success, and Cruise and McQuarrie continued working together on the franchise. The last three entries in the Mission: Impossible franchise, 2018’s Fallout, 2023’s Dead Reckoning Part One, and 2025’s The Final Reckoning, were all directed by McQuarrie.
