Marlon Wayans recently revealed details about the next installment of his iconic spoof franchise, Scary Movie. In a new interview, he shared which recent horror hits could serve as material for Scary Movie 6. He also discussed how the film plans to tap into today’s wave of popular and critically acclaimed genre titles.

Marlon Wayans names horror movies to be spoofed in Scary Movie 6

During an interview with ComicBook, Wayans talked about the horror movies that could be spoofed in the upcoming Scary Movie 6. He explained, “I Know What You Did Last Summer may have something in there. I think the Scream franchise is always a great one. I think Heretic was a wonderful film. Longlegs. Get Out. Nope. There are just so many great horror films to pull from that we plan on having a field day. Sinners.”

Scary Movie will return next summer with the Wayans brothers reuniting to lead the franchise. The spoof genre resurfaced with the release of The Naked Gun, led by Liam Neeson, which signaled renewed audience interest in parody films. Horror continues to dominate the box office, with new titles consistently shaping pop culture. Jordan Peele’s Get Out and Nope earned widespread recognition.

Wayans highlighted Sinners to reflect its success earlier this year. Ryan Coogler directed the film, which surpassed box office expectations and drew a strong critical response for blending social themes with genre storytelling. His list also featured Heretic and Longlegs, two recent horror standouts that resonated with audiences.

Other contemporary releases than what Wayan mentioned could also inspire material. Weapons dominated theaters in August, and sequences like the running children and Aunt Gladys stand out as potential parody targets. The Conjuring universe continues to expand as one of horror’s most profitable franchises, positioning it as another likely inclusion.

The series has long parodied popular horror titles soon after their release. The 2000 original film heavily spoofed Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, both of which remain active franchises. With the Wayans brothers returning and a wide range of recent horror successes to draw from, Scary Movie 6 arrives with a slate of timely material ready for parody.
