Olympic champion Sanya Richards-Ross stopped by The Morning Hustle and kept it real about her run on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. The track legend talked about whether she would ever return to the franchise, what reality TV did for her brand, and why she chose to walk away on her own terms.

Asked if she would go back to RHOA if given the opportunity, Richards-Ross answered quickly. “I don’t think I would,” she said, repeating it for emphasis. Still, she didn’t fully close the door. “I never say never in life,” she added. She also made it clear she values what the show gave her: “I appreciate Housewives for what it was and what it did for my career at that time.”

When asked if the show actually helped her career, her answer was blunt: “Hell, yeah.” As an Olympic gold medalist in the 400 meters, she explained that athletes have to keep reinventing themselves after their competitive days end. “People are not checking for you when you’re not current,” she said. Landing on one of the biggest platforms in the world changed that fast. “My phone started ringing again.”

The experience wasn’t easy. Richards-Ross described reality TV as “a lot coming to you all at once,” with cast members trying to figure it all out in real time. She also had an exit plan from the start. She didn’t want to stay too long and risk having the Housewives label overshadow years of work on the track.

Now she’s moved on to a new show and remains focused on the legacy she built through sweat and discipline. “I want to be remembered as Sanya Richards-Ross, the Olympic gold medalist, and not a housewife,” she said. For her, two seasons was enough. “I’m grateful for those two years and those two seasons. It did for me what it’s supposed to do.”

Sanya is currently hosting Beyond the Curve with Sanya Richards-Ross on Scripps Sports Network.
