Sam Fender Reschedules Newcastle Pre-Sale Following Ticket Site Bot Attack

Sam Fender has postponed the ticket pre-sale for his upcoming homecoming shows at Newcastle’s St James’ Park after a “sophisticated bot attack” disrupted the ticketing process. The technical failure occurred on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, as thousands of fans attempted to secure early access to the singer’s 2027 stadium dates.

The pre-sale has been officially rescheduled to Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 9:30 AM BST.

Technical disruption at Gigantic

The issues were localized to the ticketing platform Gigantic, which is managing the sales for the Newcastle performances. According to reports from ITV News Tyne Tees, the site suffered a “Gateway Error” triggered by a malicious volume of suspicious activity. This surge in automated bot traffic effectively blocked legitimate fans from completing their purchases, leading to the decision to pause the sale entirely to maintain fairness.

The disruption specifically impacted the Newcastle dates because they utilized a different ticketing partner than the rest of the tour. Sales for other venues, primarily hosted on Ticketmaster, were reported to be largely unaffected by the same level of interference.

Efforts to protect ticket prices

The postponement comes amid ongoing efforts by Fender to protect his audience from predatory ticketing practices. For the “Proper Massive Stadium Tour,” the singer implemented a flat £85 cap on all standing tickets. This move included the removal of premium “front-standing” tiers, a common industry practice that often leads to significantly higher prices for the areas closest to the stage.

By streamlining the pricing structure and attempting to block automated bots, Fender’s team has stated they intend to ensure tickets reach genuine fans rather than secondary market resellers. The 2027 stadium tour features British alt-rock band Wunderhorse as the opening act.

The Newcastle shows at St James’ Park are currently scheduled for June 3 and June 5, 2027. The rescheduled pre-sale is set to begin on Thursday at 9:30 AM BST.
