“We understand what we’re getting into. We understand what’s gonna happen.” No scholarship balance, no resource balance. If anything, Grambling is walking right into the snake pit, and they can do nothing about it….. Ryan Day and Co. sit at the top of the college football mountain, and there is no denying it. With that win over Texas and proving that even without Jim Knowles, the Bucks defense, with Caleb Downs as the anchor, can decimate any “supposed” Heisman finalist, Ryan Day and the Buckeyes are out on a hunt, and the next target on their list? Well, Vegas knows what’s about to go down.
The Buckeyes opened as a jaw-dropping 55.5-point favorite, the largest spread for any college football game in the last two years. The Bucks and Day have never been tagged this high before. Odds Shark’s database, which tracks lines back to 1990, lists their previous record as a 52-point favorite vs Rutgers in 2019—a game they cruised through 56–21. The last time this mantle was owned by someone was LSU against Grambling back in 2023. And well, that game? Yeah, the State Tigers lost by not 10 or 20, but 60 freaking points.
Ohio State is favored to beat Grambling State by 55.5 points — the largest spread in college football since LSU was a 56.5-point favorite against… Grambling State! https://t.co/5UNjiazSL5

Right now, Tigers HC Mickey Joseph knows his boys cannot do much. He already confessed that there is zero debate on which program has better resources. However, what did make us raise our eyebrows is Joseph getting “too honest”. “We all know why we’re playing the game,” the HC had said.
A simple translation? Grambling is walking into this beat-down, willingly, for the $1 million paycheck. Now, if you didnt know, OSU is supposed to hand out the payment as a form of compensation to a “less resourced” program taking a road trip to the place where the big dogs live.
All in all, OSU is about to eat up another FCS program. They did it back in 2013—a 76–0 obliteration of Florida A&M. Then with Youngstown State; 38–6 (2007), 43–0 (2008), and 35-7 (2023). In math terms, the Bucks have been winning on a 44.75 points average against FCS boys.
All of this just keeps on fueling Ryan Day’s run towards becoming one of the best coaches at the FBS level.
