Ruby left to die by Joe Tate and Caleb sobs as Emmerdale spoilers reveal what happens next

Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) sought vengeance in the name of Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) in Emmerdale in the most brutal way imaginable, with Ruby Miligan (Beth Cordingly) buried alive at his request.

The Home Farm show favourite is grieving the loss of his beloved Dawn, who perished on the day they were meant to be wed after a car drove through the marquee.

Dawn was late to the service, with Caleb Miligan (William Ash) having plotted to get the bride-to-be to abscond with ex Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) as a way to destroy nemesis Joe once and for all.

With Dawn having sadly died in the aftermath, Joe has vowed to make those responsible pay and, on the day of Dawn’s funeral, he had Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) assist him in seeking revenge.

In a grim cliffhanger, Joe talked to a grave, promising brutal revenge and, as the camera panned down below the dirt and into the ground, we saw unconscious Ruby buried alive.

It’s not just Ruby that Joe has exacted revenge on as tomorrow’s episode sees him standing over a groggy Caleb, warning him about what’s set to unfold as he takes his revenge plot up a gear.

Caleb, in his weakened state, is confused about what Joe has done – that is until he makes a comment implying Ruby is in danger. Terrified, Caleb wants more information but Joe relishes in withholding the truth from him, taking enjoyment from watching him squirm.

Ruby, meanwhile, wakes up in the coffin and, utterly horrified, she is unable to escape her confinement. With air running out, she begins to lose strength – and slips into silence.

Has Ruby died?

A determined Caleb searches for a weapon – anything that might give him the upper hand – while Joe laughs, taking the opportunity to reveal that he’s buried Ruby alive in a coffin.

Caleb is shaken to the core and begs Joe to let his wife go. Joe, however, refuses to back down and is keen for Caleb to experience the terror and devastation he did when Dawn perished.

But will Caleb lose Ruby? Or can he get through to the grieving businessman?

Caleb might just get a reprieve as Joe subsequently finds out that Vinny (Bradley Johnson) was the one who caused the crash, leaving him staggered – a moment which you can watch above.

Vinny is left fearing for his life as Joe reacts in a dark way. Th question is: just how far will Joe go to avenge Dawn?
