Robo Shankar, a Tamil comedian and actor, died in GEM Hospital in Chennai on Thursday at the age of 46. After apparently fainting on a movie set a few days prior, he had been in serious condition after suffering from a large gastrointestinal hemorrhage and multi-organ dysfunction due to a complicated stomach ailment. Heartbreaking videos of his daughter, Indraja Shankar, sobbing and appearing sad have gone viral on social media following his funeral, which took place at his Chennai home on Friday, September 19.
Robo Shankar's daughter cries inconsolably
One among the first celebrities to visit his family and express condolences was Dhanush, who has collaborated with Robo Shankar. He was spotted comforting Robo's distraught daughter during the funeral ceremony, as she sobbed uncontrollably. During the emotional time, Dhanush comforted her by giving her a hug.

Udhayanidhi Stalin pays tribute
Udhayanidhi Stalin, the deputy chief minister of Tamil Nadu, also paid Robo his last respects at his residence.
He shared his sorrow on X, stating, "We honored him by placing a garland on his body at his home. Beginning his career as a stage artist, achieving fame on television, and delighting Tamil audiences with his genuine humor in films, brother Robo Shankar was truly exceptional."
Celebs pay their last respect
In addition, actor Sivakarthikeyan paid his final respects at Robo Shankar's Chennai home. Kottachi, Nalini, Thamu, playback singer Mano, lyricist Snehan, Ramu, Radha Ravi, Vijayapuri, and Nanjil Vijayan are among the other celebrities who paid their respects.
Robo Shankar is survived by his wife, Priyanka Shankar, daughter Indraja, and son-in-law, Karthik.
In an official statement, GEM Hospital said, "Robo Shankar was admitted to GEM Hospital, Perungudi, Chennai, on 16th September 2025 in a critical condition with a massive gastrointestinal bleed and multiorgan dysfunction secondary to a complex abdominal condition. He was managed in the critical care unit with intensive medical management."
"However, his condition rapidly deteriorated, and he passed away on September 18 at 9:05 PM," the statement added.
