Capcom has released updated sales figures for its biggest games, with big wins for Resident Evil and Devil May Cry 5.

Between Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, and Onimusha: Way Of The Sword, Capcom looks set for a banner year in 2026.

Resident Evil Requiem is already the fastest-selling game in the series’ history, while Pragmata, an entirely original IP, surpassed two million copies within 16 days.

Both of these are impressive in isolation, but Capcom’s success in 2026 extends to its older titles too.

Ahead of a shareholders meeting this month, Capcom updated its game sales figures for the fiscal year ending March 2026. As you can see in the table below, the Resident Evil franchise as a whole has continued to sell consistently well for years.

In fact, over the past year alone, the Resident Evil franchise sold 23 million copies. That’s a combination of Resident Evil Requiem (6.9 million), Resident Evil 7 (2.6 million), Resident Evil 2 remake (2.9 million), Resident Evil 3 remake (3.4 million), Resident Evil Village (3.6 million), and Resident Evil 4 remake (3.6 million).

For a comparison, sales of every game in the Silent Hill franchise stands at just 17.1 million in total, so Resident Evil dwarfs its survival horror competitor by a massive margin.

The other surprise is Devil May Cry 5. The 2019 action game sold 2.7 million copies in the 2026 fiscal year, which is the highest it’s ever sold in a single year. In its launch year, it sold 2.1 million, which it achieved again in 2023. This brings the game’s total sales to date to 12.9 million copies.

The spike in sales is likely down to the Netflix animated series, along with smartly-timed discounts. A Switch 2 version of Devil May Cry 5 is set to launch on June 23 as well, so there’s a chance it could get another bump via Nintendo’s system.

Devil May Cry 5’s enduring sales practically guarantee a sixth entry at some point, but the delay in its arrival might be due to the departure of Hideaki Itsuno from Capcom in 2024. Itsuno has directed all the mainline Devil May Cry games since 2003’s Devil May Cry 2, and the studio seems to have struggled figuring out a replacement for the sixth.

There’s a chance we could see a new Devil May Cry announced in 2027, or even The Game Awards in December. At the moment, we know the studio has Resident Evil Veronica, Mega Man: Dual Override, and Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance all lined up for next year.

There have also been rumours of a new Ace Attorney game, while the successor to Ōkami is floating on the periphery too, but that will likely be further out, based on its low-key reveal.
