It didn’t take long for the Baltimore Orioles and Shane Baz to commit to each other.

The Orioles signed the starter to a five-year, $68 million contract extension, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported on Friday.

Baz joined the Orioles this off-season in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays and has yet to make a regular-season start with his new AL East club.

The 26-year-old went 10-12 with a 4.87 ERA last season in 31 starts. It was his first full season after Tommy John surgery. He also went 4-3 with a 3.06 ERA in 14 starts in 2024.

Baz was a first-round draft pick by Pittsburgh in 2017, and he was traded to Tampa Bay in 2018 in a deal that sent Chris Archer to the Pirates.
