Meghan Markle could make another major move back into acting after reportedly receiving an offer for a brand-new role in the UK.

HELLO! reports that the Duchess of Sussex, 45, has been approached about an unnamed British role. The claim follows her cameo as herself in the forthcoming Amazon MGM Studios comedy Close Personal Friends, which has yet to air.

The film also features Lily Collins, Brie Larson, Jack Quaid and Henry Golding. It marks Meghan’s first acting appearance in almost a decade, it’s believed.

Further details about the new UK offer have not yet been confirmed. However, it comes as Meghan and Prince Harry reportedly prepare to relocate to Britain with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Meghan Markle offered new acting role in the UK

According to reports, the Sussex family will return to Britain later this month for an “extended period”. The reports claim that Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, have already enrolled at schools in the UK.

Harry and Meghan reportedly plan to live in a private, non-royal home outside London. King Charles learned of the family’s plans on Sunday and reportedly welcomed the prospect of spending more time with them.

Some reports have suggested that acting opportunities could form part of the reason for the move. However, that claim remains unconfirmed.

When Meghan married Harry at St George’s Chapel, Windsor, in 2018, she described the change to the BBC as the start of a “new chapter”. Before then, she was best known on screen for playing paralegal Rachel Zane in Suits. Her other credits ranged from Hallmark movies to Horrible Bosses and Remember Me.

What has Meghan said about returning to acting?

Meghan appeared to rule out an acting comeback during a 2022 interview with Variety.

Asked whether she would consider returning, she said: “No. I’m done. I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not.”

She continued to work on screen after stepping away from scripted roles. Her projects included the 2022 Netflix documentary series Harry & Meghan and her cooking and lifestyle programme, With Love, Meghan.

Her cameo in Close Personal Friends then signalled a change of direction. The latest reported offer could now bring Meghan’s acting career back to the UK, although it remains unclear whether she plans to accept it.

The couple’s return also comes amid continuing questions over their security arrangements in Britain.

HELLO! reported that Harry was awaiting a Risk Management Board review at the end of June. The review forms part of Ravec’s assessment of his protection needs. It follows his legal dispute with the Home Office over security for his family in Britain after his protection arrangements changed when he stopped working as a royal in 2020.

Meghan also reportedly intends to continue running her As Ever lifestyle brand from the family’s new British base while any potential acting plans take shape.
