PS Plus Essential September 2025 monthly free games have begun rolling out, starting with Japan and Asia, where it’s Tuesday, September 2. The lineup will go live in the remaining regions at noon local time tomorrow, making this your last chance to claim August’s monthly games, if you haven’t already.
PS Plus September 2025 Essential monthly lineup brings three acclaimed games
For the third month straight, Sony is offering critically-acclaimed games for free, meaning these are yours to keep and can be accessed anytime with an active PS Plus membership.
September’s lineup is headlined by Psychonauts 2 (PS4), which is accompanied by fan-favorite Stardew Valley (PS4), and hit 2023 game, Viewfinder (PS4, PS5). Some players aren’t too enthusiastic about this lineup after being treated to games like Diablo IV and Lies of P, but we highly recommend these titles and hope that those who haven’t played them will give them a chance.
All three games will go live on Tuesday, September 2 for everyone. Unlike the Extra and Premium catalog, Essential games aren’t staggered by region, so they will appear in the PS Store for you by noon local time.
This is also your monthly reminder not to download any of the Essential games via the Extra catalog, should they appear there in the future. Doing so will override your freebie license.
