Tuesday is another busy night on the ice with 11 pre-season games across the NHL, including six Canadian teams in action.
Here is who will be in action for the Flames, Oilers, Canadiens, Senators, Maple Leafs and Jets Tuesday night:
Calgary Flames
vs. Seattle Kraken
Watch on Sportsnet+ at 7 p.m. MT / 9 p.m. PT
Forwards: Matt Coronato, Morgan Frost, Matvei Gridin, Sam Honzek, Jonathan Huberdeau, Rory Kerins, Justin Kirkland, Adam Klapka, Hunter Laing, Sam Morton, Yegor Sharangovich, William Stromgren, Connor Zary
Defence: Kevin Bahl, Hunter Brzustewicz, Artem Grushnikov, Yan Kuznetsov, Simon Mack, Brayden Pachal, Zayne Parekh, Ilya Solovyov
Goaltenders: Dustin Wolf, Owen Say
The Flames are dressing are veteran lineup at forward and a very inexperienced lineup on the blueline. This will be the first pre-season action for Sharangovich, Huberdeau and Wolf after all three sat out on the weekend’s split-squad games against the Oilers.
Tuesday’s game will be another showcase for top prospects Parekh, Gridin, Honzek and Brzustewicz. All four players have a chance to get into regular-season games this season.
Winnipeg Jets
vs. Edmonton Oilers
Forwards: Cole Perfetti, Jonathan Toews, Gustav Nyquist, Tanner Pearson, Brayden Yager, Nikita Chibrikov, Colby Barlow, Parker Ford, Brad Lambert, Mason Shaw, Jacob Julien, Walker Duehr
Defence: Dylan Samberg, Elias Salomonsson, Ville Heinola, Luke Schenn, Kale Clague, Colin Miller
Goaltenders: Eric Comrie, Domenic DiVincentiis
Toews will make his long-awaited return to NHL ice when he makes his Jets debut Tuesday. The former Blackhawks captain last played in a game on April 13, 2023, and spent the last two years recovering from chronic inflammation and immune system issues likely related to long COVID. He will centre a line featuring Perfetti and Nyquist in a combination head coach Scott Arniel is hoping will generate secondary scoring.
The Jets will also have some top prospects in the lineup Tuesday, including Yager (acquired in the Rutger McGroarty trade), Barlow (2023 first-round pick) and Lambert (2022 first-round pick).
Arniel told reporters that Comrie will play the whole game in net.
Edmonton Oilers
vs. Winnipeg Jets
Lineup TBD
Toronto Maple Leafs
vs. Ottawa Senators
Forwards: Matthew Knies, Auston Matthews, Matias Maccelli, Bobby McMann, John Tavares, William Nylander, Dakota Joshua, Luke Haymes, Nick Robertson, Steven Lorentz, Scott Laughton, Easton Cowan
Defence: Morgan Rielly, Brandon Carlo, Jake McCabe, Chris Tanev, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Ben Danford
Goaltenders: Dennis Hildeby, Artur Akhtyamov
The Maple Leafs are dressing a very NHL-heavy lineup for their first home game on the pre-season schedule. This will be Matthews’ first game without wingman Mitch Marner, and another double-M, Matias Maccelli, will get first crack at the right-wing slot on the top line. Five regulars on the blue line will be in the lineup with 2024 first-round pick Danford getting a chance to play with the regulars, while Cowan will also be in the lineup for another tryout at forward.
Ottawa Senators
vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
Forwards: Arthur Kaliyev, Dylan Cozens, Fabian Zetterlund, Nick Cousins, Shane Pinto, Michael Amadio, Olle Lycksell, Stephen Halliday, Tyler Boucher, Xavier Bourgault, Garrett Pilon, Hayden Hodgston
Defence: Jake Sanderson, Carter Yakemchuk, Tomas Hamara, Artem Zub, Donovan Sebrango, Nikolas Matinpalo
Goaltenders: Leevi Merilainen, Hunter Shapard
The Senators are sending a mix of veterans and prospects to Toronto for Tuesday’s tilt. Cozens and Zetterlund were two big trade deadline adds for the Senators last season and they will get a chance to try to form some chemistry while skating with bubble scorer Kaliyev. Top prospect Yakemchuk, who has an outside shot at making the time, will get a prime placement as the defence partner for No. 1 blueliner Sanderson.
Montreal Canadiens
vs. Philadelphia Flyers
Forwards: Cole Caufield, Nick Suzuki, Juraj Slafkovsky, Zac Bolduc, Alex Newhook, Joshua Roy, Sammy Blais, Joe Veleno, Vinzenz Rohrer, Luke Tuch, Florian Xhekaj, Tyler Thorpe
Defence: Alexandre Carrier, Kaiden Guhle, Lane Hutson, Tobie Bisson, David Reinbacher, Arber Xhekaj
Goalies: Jakub Dobes, Kaapo Kahkonen
The Canadiens are dressing a lineup of players who didn’t play in Monday’s pre-season opener against the Penguins. That includes the debut of Suzuki’s No. 1 line and the first game-action for Guhle, Hutson and top prospect Reinbacher.
This game will also be the first time brothers Florian and Arber Xhekaj will be teammates during a game for the Canadiens.
