Percy Jackson and the Olympians star Walker Scobell is skipping prom after fans sent death threats to teenage girls linked to him. Scobell addressed the situation directly on his Instagram Story on Sunday. The actor cited the impact on potential dates and their families as his reason for not attending.

“Please stop sending death threats to EVERY teenage girl who could remotely be associated with me based on their proximity to where I live,” Scobell wrote. “It’s not fair to them or to their families.” He continued: “Maybe also just stop sending death threats in general. That’s just not cool. Kinda weird I have to say this.”

Scobell portrays Percy Jackson, the son of Poseidon, in the Disney+ and Hulu adaptation of Rick Riordan’s YA book series. The show follows Percy and his demigod companions as they train at Camp Half-Blood and undertake mythical quests. His co-stars include Leah Sava’ Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn, Daniel Diemer, and Glynn Turman.

Season 1 of the series debuted in December 2023, with Season 2 arriving in December 2025. The network greenlit Season 3 in March 2025, before Season 2 had even premiered. The upcoming season will adapt the third entry in Riordan’s Lightning Thief saga, The Titan’s Curse.

Season 3 is expected to arrive in late 2026. Scobell took to Instagram Story on Sunday to make his announcement. Fans have since widely circulated the statement across multiple social media platforms.
