Noah Centineo had nothing but praise for his Gundam costar Sydney Sweeney. The actor revealed that they had crossed paths while growing up in the industry and expressed his interest in working with her again while also addressing the online criticism directed at her.

During a conversation on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Centineo brought up Sweeney while discussing their upcoming military science fiction film, Gundam. He revealed that they wrapped the film about a week and a half ago before praising Sweeney’s talent and personality. “Sydney’s a force. I’m always impressed by Sydney. She’s a smart lady. Yo, she’s brilliant. Yeah,” he said.

He mentioned that they both grew up auditioning together and shared similar circles. “She was in Turlock, and we had similar circles of friends, and we knew of each other. Like we had just had these memories of, like, being in passing, and so being able to go back to work and be like, ‘Dude, how have you been?'” he added.

He called her career “comet-like” while referring to her famous performance in Euphoria. Expressing his interest in doing more movies with her, he elaborated, “She’s phenomenal. I want to do movies over and over and over and over again with her. She’s lovely. I think people love to hate on her on the internet.”

He said that his praise came from firsthand experience after spending months working with Sweeney on the film. He added that people have no idea what Sweeney is actually like, further calling her “great.” Centineo also acknowledged that he’s always “impressed” by the way she carries herself while reflecting on how things can get out of hand on the internet for public figures.

“And people handle things good and sometimes they handle things terribly, you know, or they just don’t do it. And it just adds fuel to the fire. And that’s totally fair,” he explained.
