Paul Craig announced his retirement from mixed martial arts following a knockout loss to Modestas Bukauskas on the main card at UFC Paris.

The popular Scottish fighter signed a new contract with the UFC earlier this year, but the loss to Bukauskas was his sixth in the past three years, and he decided it would be his last.

Craig, who turns 38 in November, was coming off a no-contest in a June bout with Rodolfo Bellato in his return to the light-heavyweight division after a four-fight run at 185 pounds that ended in consecutive losses to Brendan Allen, Caio Borralho and Bo Nickal.

He only had one win in his past eight appearances overall, but he retires with a handful of signature wins over championship-level fighters.

Craig debuted in the UFC in 2016 as a submission specialist. He ends his pro MMA career with a record of 17-10-1 and one no-contest.

He did his best work in the 205-pound division, earning stoppage wins over former champions Jamahal Hill and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and to date, he is the only fighter to defeat current champion Magomed Ankalaev.
