Lady Luck again conspired against Oxhey Jets as they were beaten 3-2 at home by relegated Sandhurst Town a conceded an own goal for the third time this season.Saturday’s Combined Counties League Division One clash was Jets’ first ever meeting with Sandhurst and they dominated possession in the first half, with the home only able to make rare excursions forward.It looked like the opening period would end goalless but with the last action of the half Jets fell behind to a Mackenzie Creech goal.The home side came out more positively after the break and quickly pulled level when James Barnett converted a good drive across the box at the back post in the 51st minute.Within two minutes though, Jets fell behind for a second time when Cesar Vasquez tapped home to put Sandhurst in front for a second time.Jets boss Tom Inch rang the changes with Archie Henderson coming on for his debut alongside Liam Osborne.The move paid dividends almost immediately when a well-placed cross was headed home by Osborne with his first touch of the ball to make it 2-2 after 64 minutes.With the outcome in the balance, Jets were enjoying their best period of the match but with seven minutes of normal time remaining the ball was diverted beneath keeper Max West by a defender’s outstretched leg for what proved to be the winner.
