What You Should Know:

– Several Kansas City area-based employees at Oracle have received layoff notices, according to at least two sources with knowledge of the company’s actions, KMBC reports. The company, which is now headquartered in Nashville, did not announce a total number of layoffs, but sources confirmed that several long-tenured employees have lost their jobs.

– The latest round of workforce reductions comes three years after Oracle’s acquisition of healthcare technology company Cerner. Since the acquisition, a 2024 Bloomberg report showed that Oracle’s Kansas City workforce had dropped to just over 6,000 employees, down more than 5,000 in three years.

Since 2022, Oracle Health’s market share has significantly declined, particularly among large health systems. KLAS data shows that the vendor has lost 57 unique acute care customers in the past three years, including 12 health systems with over 1,000 beds. In 2024, Oracle Health received a “D+” for its overall performance and a “D” for its relationship score.

Layoffs Follow Cerner Acquisition

Following the acquisition of Cerner, Oracle has closed former Cerner campuses and consolidated work to its Innovations Campus near Interstate 435 and Bannister. The company has not shared any official numbers of layoffs with Missouri and Kansas officials.
