Star Dakota Johnson caught a much-needed break recently, with the romantic drama film Materialists emerging as something of a sleeper hit at the global box office. The movie has made over $90 million at the worldwide box office so far, and will likely end its run with more than $100 million. This would be a terrific result for the film, which cost a reported $20 million to produce. It is an even better result for Johnson, who was coming off of her epic superhero misfire, Madame Web. Produced on a reported budget of $80 million, the movie just about touched the $100 million mark during its underwhelming theatrical run. There's a strong chance of it being overtaken by Materialists. Madame Web became a curiosity upon its release on home video, but audiences that still haven't checked it out only have until October, when it leaves Netflix.
