Noel Gallagher has thanked Lech Poznań for gifting him a personalised kit, saying that fans doing ‘the Poznań’ has been “THE highlight” of Oasis‘ reunion shows.
The celebration – borrowed from the band’s beloved Man City – involves fans facing away from the stage, linking arms with fellow gig-goers and jumping up and down in unison. It originates from the Polish football club Lech Poznań.

The moment has gone viral multiple times now, with Liam having led 65,000 fans in Mexico City through the dance last week.
Though ‘the Poznań’ went down a storm at Manchester’s Heaton Park – where City manager Pep Guardiola was in attendance – the frontman had to teach fans in Toronto how to do the move. He was told ahead of the gig that Canadians were “all a little bit shy”.
Yesterday (September 18), Noel shared an image of a shirt and letter he had been sent by Lech Poznań.
“Thanks to all at Lech Poznań,” he wrote. “It’s been THE highlight of the night all over the world. Even United fans have been doing it!! UP THE BLUES.” He added a series of blue and white heart emojis, before signing off: “NG.”
Liam jokingly responded to his brother’s tweet, saying: “Er where’s mine.” However, a video shared by Lech Poznań revealed that the singer did, in fact, receive a shirt featuring his name and a number ’12’. Watch below.

A transcription of the letter has since been shared on Reddit. It reads: “Dear Noel, in front of you lies a very special gift – a personalised KKS Lech Poznań jersey with your name and the number ’12’, which in our club is reserved for the fans – our ‘twelfth player’!
“As you probably know, we have quite a lot in common. Just like you, as a devoted Manchester City supporter, we – the fans and staff of Lech – love cheering for our teams, especially when doing ‘the Poznań’!”
It continues: “This year marks the 15th anniversary of the UEFA Europa League ties between our clubs – the very moment when Manchester, and soon after the whole of the UK and the world, discovered how we celebrate football in our city. The term ‘the Poznań’ even made its way into the Cambridge Dictionary!
“We are truly proud that such a great club as Manchester City helped to spread the name of our city and team in such a remarkable way.”
The letter went on to praise the moments Liam and Noel “encourage Oasis fans to join in and do ‘the Poznań’ – and we have to say, it really makes a huge impression!”. It adds: “Perhaps one day you would like to visit our city as well – either to play a show here or to experience firsthand the unique atmosphere of a Lech match at our stadium.
“Please feel free to wear the jersey, share it, or simply keep it as a small token of connection between you and our club. With respect and best wishes, KKS Lech Poznań.”

Per the official Man City website, ‘the Poznań’ “quickly became a new part of the matchday ritual” after the two teams played each other in the Europa League group stage at the Etihad Stadium in 2010.
“Armed with a star-studded squad, gleaned with a sensational summer transfer window of activity, City bounced to a 3-1 triumph, courtesy of an Emmanuel Adebayor hat-trick… and the atmosphere was jumping in the stands!” the post reads.
“But the lively leaping actually originated from the away end: the 6,000 staunch Poznan supporters, who unleashed their signature show of support.”
It continues: “Turning their back on the pitch, spreading their arms and grabbing the person next to them, the away following created wave after wave of royal blue chains, bouncing up and down on the spot.
“It was quite an incredible sight, enjoyed by all corners of the ground, and in light-hearted jest, the City fans adopted it after Adebayor’s strikes.”
Despite Noel’s recent enthusiasm for the craze, the musician was spotted refusing to participate in ‘the Poznań’ at a Man City Game last year. He later defended himself after Liam called out his “poor behaviour”.
“I have to say, in my defence, on Saturday I was still feeling the effects of a rather spectacular night out,” Noel explained at the time.
Following the North American leg of Live ’25, Oasis will return to the UK for two additional gigs at London’s Wembley Stadium next Saturday and Sunday (September 27, 28). Further dates will follow in South America, Australia, South Korea and Japan.
The band have been releasing official live versions of tracks from different cities on the trek. So far we’ve had ‘Slide Away’ from Cardiff, ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’ from Manchester, ‘Little By Little’ from London, ‘Bring It On Down’ from Edinburgh and ‘Wonderwall’ from Dublin.
