Nobody Wants This creator Erin Foster has claimed that she and cast member Adam Brody have different views on the current situation in the Middle East.

Erin’s experiences converting to Judaism before marrying her husband inspired Nobody Wants This, in which she made a brief on-screen appearance in its latest run of episodes.

Last month, the Netflix rom-com’s star Adam called for a “free Palestine” during an interview with GQ, and made it clear that he thought Israel was committing a “genocide” in Gaza.

His comments echoed those previously made by Amnesty International, a United Nations independent commission and several Israeli human rights groups.

“It’s awful that it’s taken so much death and misery, but it does feel like it’s reaching a breaking point that it should have a while ago,” Adam – who was raised Jewish – added.

“I’m hopeful that another administration can really do some good and correct some of these policies that are helping that situation be as awful as it is.”

During a subsequent appearance on the podcast Not Skinny But Not Fat, Erin was asked about Adam’s remarks, responding: “It’s complicated.”

“I think our work environment, our set, is very similar to dinner tables around the world where people are having debate and discussion and disagreeing,” she said. “And, you know, while I love Adam, I also disagree with him, and that’s OK.”

Adam plays rabbi Noah Roklov in Nobody Wants This, with the story centring around his relationship with an agnostic podcast host, Joanne Williams, played by Kristen Bell.

The third season of the TV rom-com debuted on Netflix last week, and was generally considered by critics to be an improvement on its second run of episodes a year earlier.

Speculation has already begun about whether it will be recommissioned for a fourth season, with Netflix yet to announce whether it has been renewed.

The first three seasons of Nobody Wants This are now streaming on Netflix.
