Nigel Farage has performed yet another U-turn by insisting a Reform UK government would be prepared to deport women back to Afghanistan.
He had previously insisted that would not happen for at least the first five years of him being prime minister.
The Reform leader performed the climbdown as he was interviewed by Sky News at his party’s conference in Birmingham.
He was asked by Beth Rigby: “Will you send women and children back to Afghanistan and the Taliban?”
Farage said: “I’ve made it very, very clear that our first priority, our first priority with those living in Britain illegally is to deport men. It is men that are clearly the more perceived danger.”
Rigby asked him again: “Will you detain the women and children? Will you send them back?”
The Reform boss said: “Yes. Women that arrive, women that arrive by boat will be deported.”
Asked if that meant to Afghanistan, Farage replied: “Yes if necessary.”
He added: “I am more concerned about the rights of British people than I am about those who come here illegally.”
