Next Minecraft update - upcoming release date estimate

June 17, 2026: With Chaos Cubed now live, we have added the latest information about the Minecraft drop set to arrive later this fall. Ever since Minecraft launched over a decade ago, it has constantly evolved with each passing year, adding more content, features, and functionality to the core experience. In 2024, Mojang, the game's developers, announced a radical change to bring more frequent updates to Minecraft called 'drops,' set to arrive every few months to ensure the game remains fresh. The current Minecraft update is Chaos Cubed, which was just released in June 2026. The next Minecraft update in the pipeline doesn't have a name yet, but we got our first look at the 26.3 update during Minecraft Live, showing off the Dappled Forest biome for the first time.
