To no one’s surprise, Hollow Knight: Silksong is incredibly popular and will undoubtedly sell millions of copies as it was arguably one of the most anticipated games of all time. However, as a result, some solid recently released games have been put to the wayside, including this PS5 action adventure game that is “tragically overlooked.”
Hell Is Us might be one of this year’s hidden gems
Released on the same day as Hollow Knight: Silksong, Rogue Factor’s Hell Is Us has received some positive reviews since last week’s launch. In a recent Reddit thread on the r/gaming subreddit, user ScrwFlandrs called it “tragically overlooked” due to its unfortunate release date. Other users seem to share the same sentiments.
“Yeah, it’s pretty good. I’m 8 hours in. Hard to put down,” says user urgasmic.
“Been playing it – love it,” says user Em_Leonard. “It strangely reminds me of The Sinking City without handholding. Cool detailed story, unique environments to explore, great puzzles with good combat. Nice balance across the board.”
It does seem players who did actually pick up Hell Is Us in favor or in addition to picking up Hollow Knight: Silksong are enjoying it. Steam reviews are currently sitting at “Very Positive,” with over 800 reviews recorded for the game thus far. The general consensus from critics isn’t as high as these players’ opinions, but it did receive decent scores. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it garnered an average score of 78 across 46 critic reviews.
When Hollow Knight: Silksong announced its release date, several other indie developers delayed their games so they wouldn’t have to compete with the highly anticipated metroidvania. The most notable of these is Bennet Foddy’s upcoming walking simulator, Baby Steps.
Hell Is Us is available for PS5 on the PS Store right now for $59.99. A Deluxe Edition is also available for $79.99.
