Netflix has moved heaven and earth in its efforts to undo the mistake of passing on Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone many years ago. The show became something of a cultural phenomenon following its debut on Paramount+ in 2018, spawning a franchise that continues to this day and inspiring scores of imitators. Sheridan himself has created several other hit series for Paramount+ and has been known to dominate the platform's viewership charts on any given day in the year. As we speak, Sheridan is enjoying the success of the third season of Lioness, with the second season of his Yellowstone sequel series Marshals due out soon. Meanwhile, Netflix is preparing to launch one of its biggest rival series yet, as early as this week.
