Netflix has drawn the curtains to one of its popular shows. The true-crime TV series, Conversations With A Killer, will stream for the fifth and final season next month.

American documentary filmmaker Joe Berlinger premiered the TV series back in 2019. In the very first season, the show featured The Ted Bundy Tapes. This was followed by The John Wayne Gacy Tapes and The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes in 2022.

Berlinger’s series came back for its fourth iteration with The Son of Sam Tapes, released last year. In all the seasons, a separate serial killer’s story is explored with the help of archival footage and recorded interviews from the past, coupled with intriguing present-day commentary.

The fifth season of the show is set to premiere on Netflix on August 12, 2026.

What to know about the final season of Conversations With a Killer

The conclusion of the Conversations with a Killer series will feature The Charles Manson Tapes. This season will focus on how the infamous cult leader and his ‘Manson Family’ were responsible for the gruesome death of at least nine people in 1969.

The description of the show, per TV Insider, reads, “Drawing on previously unreleased prison recordings, firsthand accounts, and archival footage, this documentary series traces Charles Manson’s rise as a cult leader, the 1969 murders that followed, and the media spectacle of his trial. The series features interviews with former Manson Family members and law enforcement alongside recorded phone calls with Manson himself.”

Providing further details about the final season, Berlinger detailed his thought process behind choosing Manson’s story. The filmmaker admitted that Manson did not fit the bill of a typical serial killer like Dahmer, Bundy, and others.

However, the notorious crimes committed by Manson got the American audience interested in consuming true-crime stories. The 64-year-old also revealed that the final season of his show tries to examine in detail the methods of Manson’s manipulation and control.
