Major League Baseball has moved the start time for Game 3 of the American League Championship Series between the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians to 1:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, October 15. The game at Progressive Field was originally scheduled for 6:00 p.m. ET but was moved forward to avoid a forecast of heavy rain and inclement weather in the Cleveland area later that evening.
For fans attending the game, gates at Progressive Field will now open at 11:00 a.m. ET. The national broadcast will remain on TBS and truTV, with streaming available through Max.
Weather forecasts forced a proactive scheduling change for the Rays-Guardians matchup.
The ALCS shifts to Cleveland with the series tied 1-1 after the Rays took Game 2 with a 3-1 victory. The decision to move the start time is a proactive measure intended to ensure the game is completed without the risk of significant mid-game delays or a suspension that could impact the rest of the postseason calendar. According to MLB.com, the Game 3 pitching matchup will feature right-hander Griffin Jax for Tampa Bay against Cleveland’s Gavin Williams.
The schedule change has also caused a ripple effect for the National League Championship Series. Game 4 of the NLCS between the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers has been moved up by one hour and is now scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. ET to occupy the vacated evening television window.
