Megan executes her final trump card ahead of Coronation Street sex abuse trial

Arrested, exposed and charged with sexually abusing a minor. Think Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon) is leaving Coronation Street without a fight? Think again.

One of the most deplorable Corrie villains of all time is finally getting a much needed dose of justice.

Behind the carefully crafted image as an athletics coach lies a remorseless predator who grooms underage boys right under the nose of their families, like she did with Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) and his friend, former victim, Lee (Oscar Aldersley). For the longest time, Will was completely under Megan’s thrall and genuinely believed that they were in love. But it was only ever about control.

Anyone who posed a threat to exposing their twisted relationship found themselves a target for Megan’s manipulations. She tormented schoolboy  Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) to the brink of madness for bringing her crimes to light. She taunted Will’s step-mum Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) for trying to secure her confession with a sickening brag about sleeping with Will. She even managed to escape the wrath of Will’s murderous grandmother Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn).

Not all of Megan’s victims were children. The paedophile essentially used Weatherfield High teacher Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) as her beard, only dating him so nobody would suspect her of abuse. This has severely damaged both Daniel’s reputation and mental state.

Out of all of Megan’s many enemies, it was wisecracking Weatherfield cabbie Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) who ultimately proved to be Megan’s downfall.

On the day that Will was due to run away with her to France, not realising that Megan’s plan was to run off without him, Tim just happened to pick him up in his taxi. Tim is the one of the few people in Weatherfield that Will could relate to, having been a victim of a predatory older woman’s advances himself as a teenager. With Tim’s encouragement, the scales finally fell from Will’s eyes and , he reported Megan to the police.

However, the nightmare is far from over.

Megan’s abuse has robbed Will of any sense of normality. He even accused  Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon), herself a former victim of grooming, of trying to seduce him when shequickly went awry when she was trying to offer a shoulder to cry on.

The one silver lining is a blossoming friendship with Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) that could be something more.

However, Megan’s already come out of the woodwork to get her claws back into Will, by tricking him into meeting her. Now with her trial looming, Megan continues to mess with Will’s head in upcoming episodes of Coronation Street.

When Susie Price (Aurora Bradshaw) activates Will’s games console and selects a player called Minimog16, suddenly she hears a familiar voice on the line – Megan.

But when Susie reveals who she is, the player quickly disconnects. When Susie tells  Ollie Driscoll (Raphael Akuwudike), he and Maggie burst into the back room to find Will chatting on his headset.

Will the Driscolls discover that Megan is trying to groom Will again before it’s too late?
